Saunders are committed to developing good holistic design that reconciles ethical concerns, not only for our clients, but for the community as a whole and for future generations. We regard Government targets as a minimum standard and we aspire to achieve much more than this. As architects, we are in a position to influence decision making that could lead to significant reductions in carbon emissions through far-reaching sustainable design that considers economic, social and environmental well-being.
Early involvement in the development brief allows us to consider the broader parameters of designing for a sustainable community. We can then develop a strategy to reduce environmental impact and improve quality of life by design, taking account of live-work-play patterns and reducing travel times, congestion and emissions. We promote sustainability in the detailed design of our projects, producing energy-efficient building designs, endeavouring to use locally sourced and low-energy materials, and incorporating renewable energy sources, rainwater harvesting and other carbon-reducing technologies, wherever possible.
