Seaside Senior Living

Living by the sea in a thoughtfully-designed, wheelchair friendly apartment with lots of inside and outside community space and onsite amenities is a dream for many older people. Saunders is pleased to have designed just this: a high quality scheme providing physical and financially independent living, in an existing vibrant community in Westcliff-on-Sea.

The aim of this innovative development on the Essex coast is to provide specialist retirement accommodation over 3 storeys, in a mix of 16 one-bedroom and 15 two-bedroom apartments positioned above a new retail provision. The location offers excellent accessibility to surrounding facilities, such as the gardens opposite and nearby local shops, enabling residents to have good social contact both within and immediately outside of the development. The ground floor, easily-accessible retail is for the use of residents and the wider community: in addition to being a local amenity, it will also create approximately 25-30 new jobs.

Other elements incorporated into the development include a private landscaped courtyard at the rear of the property along with a conservatory, library/quiet room, garden and games room, as well as an enclosed lounge at third floor with direct access to a landscaped roof terrace on the front of the building. Privacy and security is assured by a concierge.

The development has received full planning permission.
