Saunders proud to sponsor Welwyn Garden City’s centenary celebrations

Welwyn Garden City-based architects and urban designers, Saunders, are proud to be part of the celebrations honouring 100 years since the establishment of their home town in Hertfordshire. This important Centenary will be marked with numerous events throughout 2020 including a festival of lights, community sporting challenges, a new 20.20km walk around the town, the unveiling of a sculpture of Sir Ebenezer Howard, the founder of the Garden City movement, and of course as every special birthday demands, a royal visit.

It’s fitting that Saunders, an award-winning practice, is part of the celebrations. Managing Director, Martin Williams explained.

“Ebenezer Howard believed in the importance of marrying town and country to create a place that was fit for living. Welwyn Garden City was established to offer people a place to live and work away from the polluted and industrial towns and cities. This is an ethos that as architects and urban designers, we continue to espouse today, ensuring that our building designs and masterplans allow people to live, work, play and be educated or cared for in a sustainable manner, within the best possible environment. We are proud to call Welwyn Garden City our home and are excited to be part of the wonderful celebrations that are planned throughout 2020. Watch out for more information about how we are involved over the next few months.”
